Recycling Resources

Batteries
Many batteries can be recycled, but locations vary by battery type. Click HERE to find a recycling site near you.

Compost

New Earth Farm offers residential composting with two options: arrange for home pick up, or drop off your compost at any number of sites around the city. Check them out at the TG Farmer’s Market.

Furniture and Mattresses

Home Sweet Home helps under-served individuals and families furnish their homes with gently used furniture and household goods. Check their donation guidelines first, then arrange a pick-up or drop off your items. They are one of the only organizations that accepts used mattresses, but they must be in good condition.

Glass
Almost all glass—including window panes—can be recycled through Ripple Glass. Look for the big purple bin behind Rooster.

Odds & Ends /Craft Supplies
Perennial, a South City workshop and store is dedicated to creative reuse. Check out their donation list and take a class for fun.

Laundry and Line-Drying

New to line-drying your laundry? Check out these tips from Levi Strauss & Co.

Make-up/Toiletries
Sephora recycles used beauty and wellness products and empty containers including those that are too small for single stream recycling.

Prescription Pill Bottles
These are usually too small for single-stream recycling, but Stray Rescue of St. Louis accepts clean bottles with labels removed to reuse for foster pets. As a bonus, they also welcome gently used flat sheets, blankets and towels and newspapers for lining cages.
