Alderperson Jennifer Florida could not attend the meeting but encouraged everyone to vote on August 5th, 2008.

 

First-time attendee and new resident Robert Smith introduced himself.  He and his wife Catherine recently moved into a home on Humphrey.

 

Claudia Seifert volunteered to take notes of the monthly meetings to be posted on the Association Web site and the Yahoo group site.

 

Robert Ashton, Association President, presented a resolution relating to proposed revisions to the Association Bylaws.  These Bylaw revisions were suggested to reflect current practices and were discussed at the June Members’ meeting.  The following resolution was presented for approval by the Members of TGHNA:

 

“WHEREAS, the Board of Tower Groves Heights Neighborhood Association, Inc (“Corporation”) has proposed revised bylaws for the Corporation (Attachment 1) and these new bylaws were presented to a Members’ meeting on June 24th, 2008

 

RESOLVED that the proposed new bylaws are adopted in their entirety

 

RESOLVED that the Officers of the Corporation are authorized to take any and all actions necessary to implement the new bylaws as quickly as possible”

 

Pauline Ashton moved to accept the resolution; Pat Edwards seconded the motion. The motion passed by unanimous vote.

 

John Papa discussed the upcoming Autumn Fest that will be hosted by the Association.  John and Mark Froese will be in charge of organizing the event.  Volunteers are needed to help before, during and after the event.  Contact John at 865-2545 to volunteer or if you have questions.

 

·        Date will be Oct. 11 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. 

·        Tickets will be $15 before the event and $20 day of the event (same price as last year)

·        Two open houses (on Utah Place and on Juniata)

·        Also planned are carriage rides, wine tasting and food donated by local restaurants

 

Jan Clinite for the 15th Ward Democrats reported the following upcoming events:

  • July 28 -- Block Captains’ meeting at Grand Oak Hill will include a candidates’ forum for State Representatives and committeemen/committeewomen
  • July 30 -- Grand Oak Hill annual barbeque and fundraiser
  • August 7 – Obama Campaign Organization Meeting
  • August 12 – 15th Ward Democrats meeting at Carpenter Branch Library

 

The Association has several t-shirts with the Tower Grove Heights logo on them for sale—just in time for the holidays!

 

Future Meeting Agenda Items --

  • September – representative from Tower Grove Manor, the senior home on Grand
  • October – candidates for Association officers will be put forward (President Elect, Secretary, Membership Secretary and Treasurer)
  • November – election of Association officers
  • December – no monthly meeting

 

The meeting was adjourned at 7:40 p.m. and attendees enjoyed the dessert that was provided by Pat Edwards.
