Utah Place was rated as a Top 5 blue chip neighborhood in the City of St. Louis by St. Louis Magazine!
Chris Fletcher, Chef at Jasoom Restaurant, 3210 S. Grand
  • He lives in the Shaw neighborhood and enjoys doing business close to home in Grand South Grand(GSG). Both he and his partner Jeff like the opportunities afforded them by their GSG location
  • Chris has already had a big impact on eaters in St. Louis. He comes to Jasoom from Catering St. Louis, the St. Louis Art Museum, and he helped establish The Boathouse in Forest Park.
  • In the future they hope to expand their service to a lunch menu and hours, as well as to patio seating outside during the Spring & Summer

  • Do your Mother's Day shopping while you support local artists.

Emily Andrews from SLACO

  • Grants are available for setting up walking groups in the 8 surrounding neighborhoods. These groups will promote fitness, outreach, and neighborhood watch.
  • Leadership academy starts May 18th, 3 sessions from 6 - 9pm, dinner provided.

Pastor Teresa Mithen for St. John's Episcopal Church

  • The Entertainment Group improv troupe continues their shows at St. John's Episcopal, 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month, 7:30pm
  • Membership is up, and now they are seeking funding their master plan improvements which include improved accessibility to the facility
  • Hartford Coffee will soon have a "St. John's" inspired coffee blend so look for it soon

SLPD Officer Dave Ramsey for Captain Dave Magnum

  • Caught the TGH stained glass window bandits
  • Call officer Don Re (444-0169) to get added to an e-mail list for neighborhood group information.
  • There have not been a string of incidences at Gravois plaza that is just a rumor; there was just one and a lot of confusion.
  • Car break ins have decreased
  • Overall, crime is down 17%

Neighborhood Stabilization Officer, Joe Thele

  • The concerns expressed at the last meeting over the activities on Humphrey have been addressed. If anyone sees anything new let him know.

Alderwoman Jennifer Florida

  • Morgan Ford is growing. There are many new retail businesses opportunities popping up just to the west of the neighborhood. They will shortly be forming a business association.
  • Condo development in the old South City National Bank (at Grand & Gravois) has secured a $1.4 million TIF to cover 20% of the cost of the development.
  • There are also programs to develop the Melba Theatre at the same corner
  • Police are implementing a change in patrol procedures. Instead of only responding to calls, they are more proactively participating in what goes on in their neighborhoods

Tim Hayes called for your support of Tower Grove Park

  • Get out and support this nationally recognized local treasure
  • Please patronize Sunday brunch, Symphony Tuesdays, and other events at the Piper Palm House
  • Become a member of Friends of Tower Grove Park
